The Night of Light was initiated by Tom Koperek, CEO of the LK AG from Essen, in order to draw attention to a positive sign for the event industry, which is particularly affected by Corona.

For this reason, important monuments throughout Germany will be illuminated in red this Monday to draw attention to the situation of the event industry created by Corona.

Tom Koperek, about the background and the dramatic situation of the event industry:

“The event industry will not survive the next 100 days! Within a very short time, the official requirements in the course of the Corona crisis have pushed the entire event industry to the abyss.
A huge industry has been deprived of its basis for work practically overnight,
and a wave of bankruptcies on an enormous scale is looming:
with grave consequences for the job market and cultural diversity as a pillar of our society.”

We would like to thank Peter Brodag for his commitment
(Head of Unit EU Research and Technology Policy, Technology Transfer, Design, Cultural and Creative Industries)
and Hubert Aiwanger (Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy) for his approval.
